Me time
On Sunday’s I like to try and take some “me time”. You know, take a break from all the titles and responsibilities I carry during the week. It’s not always easy, in fact it is down right hard to make myself take the “me time”. Anyone that knows me can attest to that, which I why I said try. It’s easier to think I need to get that last load of laundry done or check one more thing off of my to-do list. I tell myself that if I get one more thing done, it will make “me time” easier. Guess what – I’m wrong! There will always be that one more thing. Once I figured that out, (only took me 40 years), it’s easier to forget the load of clothes that need to be moved from the washer to the dryer. – No, it’s not, I only kid myself when I say this.
So, every Sunday I do something to self -care for myself. Sometimes it’s a foot massage (there is this really great place that I can usually walk into), sometimes it’s watching something mindless on T.V and chilling. I spent however long I want, doing whatever I want. It’s usually not more than an hour, I mean come on – I’m not a total maniac. It’s enough that I feel rejuvenated enough to tackle the week ahead.
I am still pretty new to this concept of taking care of myself. After all, my personality is to take care of others. I have realized that it has to be a priority if I want to be healthy overall.
P.S. Taking time to write this, did not count as my “me time” for the week!
