Its been a minute
Hey Party People – I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted. Life kind of got away. Here’s what I’ve been up to…
Writing Life – I spent a better part of last year querying agents. Sometimes I wouldn’t get a response and other times – yeah let’s just say I spent some time licking my wounds and wondering If I was good enough to do this. I took a break from querying and revisited my manuscript. I forgot about the part of me that wrote it and looked at it from the part of me that loved books and good stories. This was super difficult but I knew I had to dig deep and really look at it. I’ve spent the better part of this year doing a complete revision, the story is the same (so far). I’ve changed the way the story is told, and some of the dynamics between the characters. At this point I’m roughly 2/3 of the way through. I wanted to give myself a reasonable timeframe to finish it. The truth is, it will be finished when it is. There is no magic formula to know when that will be.
Home Life – The family joined a gym to work out together and so far, that has meant I usually go by myself since my 2 teenagers have way more important things to do. It’s fine, working out relieves some of the stress of the workday. Of course, I do think of spending that time working on my manuscript. But I also know that I want to feel healthy so I have to compromise that time somewhere. There has also been some tragedy and loss this year. A family member was in a pretty bad accident that he is recovery from, it will be a long road but I know he is strong and has a great support system. My husband recently lost a friend that was really family and he is understandable dealing with that fresh loss. I am simple trying to be there for him.
Spare Time – I don’t have much these days with everything else going on. However, right now I’m reading the Winter Sister, by Megan Collins, Daisy Jones and the Six, by Taylor Jenkins Reid is on my wish list and I’ve been dying to go back to the used record store by my job to find some new treasures. I’ve been to a concert (Kip Moore) which will probably be the only one I can get to this year. Of course, I always have a tone of DIY ideas which I tell myself I will get to “When I have some time”.
